There is just one weekleft to give your views on the proposed Walk and Cycle Plan for Kettering. Make sure you have had your say.
To give feedback on any or all of the 14 proposed routes (good if you've a few minutes to spare and are interested in details), click here.
To see the overall plan and give general feedback (good if you are in a hurry), click here.
We are keen that we get a wide representation of views from local people so please share with your friends and family too. Thank you.
We've started to receive valuable feedback and comments on the draft plan - especially for the 14 routes. All comments are shown publicly. Did you know you can also click the thumbs up emoji next to any comment to 'upvote' it if you agree with it? To keep things positive there is no 'downvote' - you just need to make a separate comment if you disagree. We are sure you will find other comments interesting.
Looking ahead we will be meeting various local groups to promote the engagement and to answer queries on the plan. Yesterday a brief presentation was made to the North Northants VCSE Engagement Group and more information will be shared at next week's Local Area Partnership (LAP) meeting for 'Kettering Urban', enabling community group leaders to have their saytoo.
Today we met highways staff from Kier. Tonight we will be online as guests of Northamptonshire Green Party. The other parties represented on North Northamptonshire Council have also been offered the same opportunity so we hope to be joining them too.
If you prefer an in-person opportunity to have your say on paper rather than online, come and see us at Kettering Active Travel Hub from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 29 April. Venue is the side room of the Royal Hotel and access is via the side door facing the market place.
A full list of engagement opportunities will be published shortly.
What are Your Views on the 14 Proposed Routes? Launch of Draft Kettering Walk and Cycle Plan
The draft plan for creating a safe network of routes for walking, cycling, scooting and wheeling (mobility scooters etc) across the Kettering area has today been published here on the Commonplace platform. This follows a large amount of research, route audits and consultation through the earlier public surveys. Thank you to the many local people who have taken part so far whether online or at an event.
We are once again seeking the views of locals - members of the public, councillors, businesses, schools, charities and other organisations - to help refine the plan and prioritise the routes for the final plan. This is not just for people who already cycle, walk, scoot or wheel - but for those who would like to, or would like to more, if the routes were safer.
Please take a look at the 14 proposed routes here and give your views on some or all of them. Then let us know your views on the overall plan and which should be prioritised. Please also encourage your local contacts to take part too.
This consultation will close on Friday 19 May 2023.

Calling all local business leaders in Kettering. Which of the above issues concern you?
One thing they all have in common: if we could reduce the vehicle traffic on our roads by enabling more people to walk, wheel, scoot or cycle for short journeys we would be addressing these issues and many more for everyone's benefit.
Find out how your business can have a voice in how we as a town achieve this through the development of the Kettering Walking and Cycling Plan. Join the Kettering Business Network meeting on Wednesday 10 November at 9.30am at Kettering Rugby Club. to find out more in person. Brightwayz founder Alison Holland will be presenting, listening to your ideas and demonstrating the Commonplace public engagement heat map which enables everyone to share their views.
Safety issues are a big barrier to more people walking, wheeling (eg with mobility scooter), cycling or scooting to work. We need a safe road network for all forms of transport. Help us achieve that.
Background information: North Northamptonshire Council are working with WSP and Brightwayz, a local social enterprise, to draw up this Walking and Cycling Plan for Kettering and Burton Latimer (called an LCWIP - Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan). This will help the area draw in some of the government much-needed £2 billion funding to build better walking and cycling facilities. It is essential that the plan takes into account local views and ideas and this is where we need your help. Please encourage your colleagues and friends to get involved in this important consultation to build a better town. You can get involved online via this platform or through local online or in-person events promoted here such as the Kettering Business Network meeting (click here for details).

We want to get views from a wide range of people across Kettering so we need to ensure the plan we are developing can be designed to suit a wide range of backgrounds, ages and abilities.
The Kettering Voluntary Network (KVN) has over 130 members and provides advice and support to voluntary and community sector organisations across Kettering and the wider North Northamptonshire area.
These organisations and their teams represent diverse groups of people from across our town, many of whom are disadvantaged in some way and for whom a safe, attractive, affordable transport network with good travel choices would give them many benefits.
If you represent a community or volunteer group in Kettering and are not already a member of the KVN please get in touch with Sean.Silver@groundwork.org.uk to join. If you are unable to attend this meeting and are interested in how staff and members of your voluntary or community organisation can get involved with the Kettering Walk and Cycle Project please get in touch with us.
